Even though there’s no snow on the ground (yet!) where I live, I can feel the excitement of the holiday season starting – kids looking a little brighter-eyed, Christmas lights on a few neighbourhood houses…. 

No matter what or how you and your family celebrate, one thing that we can all agree on is that this is a time to spread cheer and happiness to anybody within our reach.  How you chose to do that is up to you.   Maybe you’ll donate toys to a toy drive or canned goods to a food drive, maybe you’ll volunteer at a homeless shelter, OR – maybe you’ll help send a family to camp.

Hundreds of families attend our Autism Family Camp at The Kinark Outdoor Centre every year, but unfortunately there are still hundreds who don’t get to go to camp. This holiday season you can change that.

How can you do that you ask?

It’s simple. Did you plan on sending out holiday cards to your family and friends this year? That’s all you have to do!

But, instead of buying your cards at Hallmark, Walmart or Costco, this year you can order cards through the Kinark Foundation.

All proceeds from the purchase of Holiday Cards will help send another family to camp at the Kinark Outdoor Centre.  A camp where families with children who have autism can experience many firsts:  mom’s first time on a boat, dad’s first chance to read the paper cover to cover, or a child’s first trip to camp where people aren’t judging him or her and their family.   A camp experience where everyone in the family can have a good time – together.

So this Holiday season send your cards with a purpose – it could be the best gift one of our families receives this season.
